New Delhi, April 22 (ANI): Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, met supreme head of India Orthodox Church, Baselios Marthoma Paulose II, in New Delhi recently. The prime minister is coming out unequivocally for minorities after recent attacks on churches and controversial utterances by right-wing fringe elements about the minority community. The religious leaders presented Modi with a bouquet and a painting having a picture of Modi meeting his mother Heeraben Modi. Earlier on April 06, Modi met a delegation of Muslim leaders from across the country and expressed "apprehensions" over the increased radicalization and the "emerging threat of militancy." A spate of attacks on churches and on minority-run institutions in the country had fuelled concern that minority communities were being targetted. Modi, while addressing UNESCO in France on this three-nation tour, had said that his government is committed to defending the rights and liberties of all Indians.
